Early Rising Habits to Start in 2021

2020 was a strange and stressful year so going into 2021 implementing morning routines and new habits to your life is a great way to keep your mind and body relaxed.

While most of us are still working part-time or are still working from home it can be easy to fall into a routine of sleeping in and skipping out on exercise. It is easy enough to wake up 10 minutes before work starts and climb out of bed just as you need to sign onto work. So by adding a few changes to your morning routine to help you wake up earlier and get a head start for the day can be so beneficial.

Don’t look at your phone for at least an hour after you wake up.

I have to admit I was definitely one of those people who would look at their phone the minute they woke up. Scrolling through missed Instagrams with bleary eyes. A goal of mine for 2021 is not looking at my phone first thing and waiting at least an hour or two until after I’ve woken up. I found I felt more awake and was able to get more things done first thing instead of losing an hour to social media. So try this week to not look at your phone first thing in the morning.

Get Up and Move About

I am definitely one of those people who can only workout in the morning and during these past few months, it has helped my productivity so much. Getting up and going for a quick run or walk even if it might be a frosty morning, even just fitting in a 15 minute yoga season gets the blood flowing and helps wake you up first thing.

Drink Water

Whether you like your coffee first thing in the morning or prefer a class of hot water and lemon. There is nothing more beneficial than a cold glass of water first thing.

Make Your Bed

As nice as it sounds to laze about in bed all day every day that’s not always possible. So if you’re struggling to get up and go in the morning make your bed as soon as you get up. This way you won’t be tempted to get back into bed.

Have Breakfast

Since most of us are still working from home we actually have the chance to make a decent breakfast first thing. No more grabbing a cereal bar or toast as you rush out the door. Now we have time to make a good breakfast that will fill us up for the day.
