Benefits of Journaling + Journal Prompts


I started Journaling in the middle of 2020 as a way to help my creativity but to also help with my mental health through the year that was 2020. Now I don't do it every day, I don't put pressure on myself to journal but I feel the benefits when I do.


Firstly there's no right or wrong way to journal. You don't have to use prompts or you don't have to make it a daily ritual. Journaling is just a way to get your thoughts down on paper.


However, there are a few things you can do that can make Journaling beneficial to you. One of these things is to stop resisting and just let it flow. Resisting what you want to write can be a big blocker when it comes to Journaling. This is one of the things that I found difficult in the beginning. But think about it no one but you is going to read your journal, you don't even have to read it after so just let the words come to you. Journaling should be a safe place for you to get all your thoughts out.


I know I said you don't need to use Journaling Prompts if you don't want to but if you are stuck journaling prompts can help. While a stream of consciousness Journaling can be great there are plenty of Journaling Prompts out there to help you get started. I've even found that using one prompt has allowed me to drift off into an entirely different topic while journaling.

These are just a few Journaling Prompts to get you started. Remember journaling can be so beneficial to not only your mental health but for just getting your thoughts down on paper. So don't feel any pressure just let it come to you in a conscious flow. Soon enough you'll start feeling the benefits of journaling too.
